Excellent cakes and ambience like from another era.
Nice cafe, nicely furnished. Outside terrace: Great view over the city.
Nice cakes 💞
Great pastry shop and café. Highly recommended!
A cafe from old times with very good cakes and Cakes this is a tradition in Marburg and you can feel it feel comfortable here. The view over Marburg is from here outstanding.
Everything is delicious, the staff is friendly ..
Very nicely located coffee house in the heart of Marburg. Very nice staff. Gladly again.
Great view and ice cream, not giving it 5 stars because the tea was ridiculously expensive
I don't understand the hype about this classic café. Often tourists overrun and stop in time. That may have its charm, but not if the products are simply not good at these prices. Several times already eaten cake there with a visitor, no one found it good. However, the cultural performances are great. View is super nice on the terrace and the staff is friendly.
Café Vetter is always worth a visit. You should enjoy the café atmosphere in the very nice ambience and the delicious specialties. A must know Marburg for me
Actually no star at all .. What a shame .. I wanted to have breakfast there. A lady greeted me on the phone. Unfortunately it seemed a bit hectic .. but we are all human. I wanted to make a friendly reservation for a time window of about 30 minutes, as we live about 30 minutes away and I just didn't want to be late. So far I haven't had any negative experiences in other restaurants. In the end, the lady said my word literally in a decisive and harsh tone: "SO reserving half an hour for yourself is quite FIERCE, you HAVE to be more precise." All in all, I have no problem with that. You call to speak to each other. Then I would have decided on a time, but the tone and the way make the music. In the end I lost my joy and pleasure and I told the lady in a calm but friendly tone that she unfortunately seems too unfriendly to me and that I don't want a table anymore. We said goodbye in a friendly manner. Too bad. I wanted to make my own picture and ignore the negative comments ...
Extremely delicious pies, cakes and everything else that concerns desserts and then on the outside terrace you can look out over Marburg and the surrounding area. Really great here. Great recommendation.
Absolute disaster. After asking several times, our order was finally taken after 30 minutes. We just wanted to have a coffee and a portion of eggs for breakfast. After waiting a total of 45 minutes for the coffee, we still hadn't got any breakfast after another 20 minutes. In the whole café you could already see annoyed guests because everyone had to wait so long, even as the café became emptier. The real problem only came then: when we asked about breakfast in the kitchen and wanted to complain, the boss came along. One would think that she would take care of the guests and at least apologize for the long wait. Instead we were turned on stupidly. The reaction came from her: "You have certainly never worked in the catering trade, we prepare breakfast after the other." When we said that such a reaction was not appropriate, only the typical helpless statement came up: I don't argue with you. If we had read your reaction to the negative reviews, we would have realized that we shouldn't go there. A very, very bad restaurateur. And yes, we are very familiar with the catering industry.
We used to enjoy going to Café Vetter, especially when visitors came to Marburg from home. Unfortunately we were very disappointed this time. It already started with the fact that we were ignored when we entered the location and therefore did not know which table was reserved for us. When a service employee called who hurried past you, it worked. Afterwards we had to wait 20 minutes until the waitress finally found the way to us. Another 25 minutes passed until the coffee finally arrived and another 30 minutes until breakfast finally came. The people at the next table felt the same way as we did and they had almost the same waiting time. When we asked the waitress that it took an extremely long time in what was an extremely empty guest room by Vetter standards, only a tired apology came and that they couldn't help it. In addition, the waiting time would not have been a problem (even if it is really annoying) if the waitress had come up to you in the meantime and had informed you that there are currently problems in the service and therefore everything is delayed. But apparently the communication doesn’t work very well, unlike in the past. The breakfast was also no longer as usual. Cheese and sausage was the standard, as with other breakfast options in the area. At least there was the beloved walnut rolls (which, considering the time, suggests that there was probably not that much going on that day, or they baked a lot more than usual 🤷). The big awakening came with paying the bill. Coffee is only included in the student breakfast and no longer with everyone as usual. However, according to our opinion, it could not be read exactly from the note below the breakfast and left a lot of space to speculate. One could understand the note in such a way that for the student breakfast you only have to choose between coffee, tea and hot chocolate and for the other breakfast offers you can also choose between the remaining coffee specialties. Therefore, I would recommend the cafe to readjust your choice of words on the menu so that it doesn't lead to unnecessary discussions (an addition would not be bad, then it would not lead to confusion, especially if you were used to something different). It's a shame that the cousin is no longer what it used to be, I've always enjoyed the rustic ambience and felt very comfortable, but under these circumstances I'll probably look for a new breakfast destination for my visit.
It's not worth it unless you want to spoil the beautiful Sunday. Extremely long waiting times. We ended up going without breakfast. The coffee was only served after 1 hour. The entire staff and the owner were rude to no end. One star goes to a young, hard-working waitress; the waiter on the terrace was also engaged. The rest - terrible. That's really a pity. Clearly: no recommendation.
I happened to be there with my family for coffee and ice cream. Super friendly service and delicious food. We liked it very much. We'll definitely be back. Thanks again for the friendly service!
Exellent.. When I was a phd student in Marburg, every weekend I went to Cafe Vetter. Old city, old cafe.. The cakes are delicious.
I really wanted to try it out, especially because my father was here a lot as a student and still raves about it today. However, I have to say, the breakfast is really nothing special and relatively very expensive. The terrace is positive, with a wonderful view, if it weren't for the countless wasps that want to eat with you😁
Super good cafe. The interior is very classy. The terrace is beautifully decorated with flowers and you have a great view of the houses below. The drinks and tarts are delicious. Overall, the café is recommended. Of course, it's not cheap either. In any case 5 stars for it.
Nice café with tradition and terrace. Good cake and tarts, nice service. The coffee is unfortunately not state of the art, therefore only 3 stars, but still worth a visit.
Highly recommended if you visit Marburg. The café has stood still in time and offers a very special charm. From the terrace or the winter garden you have a great view of the city. The service is still old school and the cakes are wonderful. If they weren't so high in calories, I would eat a second piece straight away. A café for young and old.
Top
I love this café. The cakes are fresh and delicious.
Cosy atmosphere and wonderful view of Marburg. Delicious cakes. Coffee just so.
Great views. Delicious hot chocolate. Kitchen unfortunately closed early at 1:30 and we missed out on the hot food.
A lot of very tasty cakes, very nice view while enjoying a coffee. A must when visiting Marburg.
Okay... No service
It's a pity that the foreigners are completely ignored. We had to call the service to order a simple breakfast. Our orders were wrong (two of two) and we have waited for 30 minutes for two cold dishes. After that we waited other 30 minutes for the bill, even if we asked for it three times. The food and the location are pretty good, but the treatment reserved to some clients and to young people is sometimes a bit impolite. I don't think I will return here.
Called beforehand asked if we could come in a Wheel Chair the lady answered yes we asked to reserve a seat for two she said just come and seat enjoy your coffee but was shocked to see the inaccessible for Wheelchair no one wanted to take responsibility of that Telefone conversations.we saw the reserved seat we sat there in protest
The old woman serving the cakes is VERY RUDE
I was disappointed. Looks pretty, but is not delicious. Macarons were really old and dry and flavorless.
"Café Vetter" was once "the" location to enjoy torts and coffee products in an atmosphere, which could be compared to Viennese coffee houses. Times are changing, so did Cafe Vetter. A couple of years ago the Viennese coffee house atmosphere was replaced with the charming attitude of barely trained students, tasteless coffee products and prices beyond what students can afford. The only reason to still visit Café Vetter, might be remembering the old times. The original Café Vetter otherwise is history update 12.10.19: Ordered a "Zwetschgendatschi" with whipped cream. Cream tasted slightly sour "Stich". I complained and got another whipped cream also slightly sour. That's how you get rid of clients, trying to trick them...
It's a must see/ do in Marburg, purely for the historical value. But, coffe is bland and although the pastries are good, so are the pastries of most Marburg cafés
Charming place to take coffee and delicious cakes. Fair prices.
Had an Oreo Shake. Wouldn't say it was the best. My friend didn't like the Kase Kuchen that much tough. But view from the cafe of the Marburg is great.
Very nice Café with a huge variety of drinks and nice cakes. The service is good and friendly and the place is very cosy. They also sell take away cakes
Going here just makes me really happy!
Awesome place....
Awesome!
We had a coupon and were so attentive to the cafe. Since then been there a few times for breakfast. There is a more secluded area for children with toys, books and high chairs. Service is very good and above all very fast. Price performance is top. We will be back.
This is a very traditional place in Marburg that you probably should visit at least once. After that I've been there multiple times, although it never had drawn me there. I find the people nice but fairly inflexible and in general there's not a lot about the food or coffee that makes it special - unlike their cakes, which are excellent.
Great fresh and generous breakfasts! There's a perfect deal for students: a breakfast for only €6.60! A picturesque view on the city is a bonus
I was very tasty.they had a variety of German sweet's. And the view was also very nice.
A really nice cafe for morning coffee or breakfast :)
Excellent coffee with many cakes and various desserts. All good, welcoming and with a nice view. The only flaw in the architectural barrier that prevents entry with a wheelchair. My brother and I have taken a wheelchair (with pleasure), but next time we will not be there ..
The place is very cozy with a beautiful scenery which can be enjoyed from the big windows and the balcony. We enjoyed two pieces of cake and an excellent coffee. The only downside is that there were too many wasps, both inside and outside the place.
Expensive and tasty 👍👍
Ok
Best of the cafes in Marburg...cakes are just perfect. When you sit in the cafe and have a nice view of the valley, it is something extraordinary.
